Zé Augusto Tavares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 18 minutes into the match, Larga SS's goal looked a bit too open when Aírton Tasso came free, but Zé Augusto Tavares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cipriano Tavares in the 22nd minute of play forced Clube Atlético Marrento's goalkeeper Ademir Cerezo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zé Augusto Nóbrega might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ademir Cerezo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zé Augusto Nóbrega ran back to his position shaking his head. When Zé Augusto Nóbrega came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Larga SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Augusto Nóbrega couldn't finish the play. Cipriano Tavares received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ademir Cerezo came out and tried to block the shot, but Cipriano Tavares slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 32nd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Aírton Tasso in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zé Augusto Tavares prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Larga SS's zone, Aírton Tasso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Augusto Tavares came out of the goal and Aírton Tasso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Larga SS's Zé Augusto Tavares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aírton Tasso in the 40th minute of play. Zé Augusto Tavares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Giovani Luz's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cipriano Tavares was the one to do the kick off. Léo Paes kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. 53 minutes into the match, Larga SS's goal looked a bit too open when Aírton Tasso came free, but Zé Augusto Tavares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 72nd minute of the match Pedrão Quadros sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zé Augusto Tavares skillfully saved the ball. The audience was convinced that Zé Augusto Nóbrega's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ademir Cerezo was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. The Clube Atlético Marrento players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
