Luís Fernando de Mendonça showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tony Matos in the 72nd minute of the match. With his leg Erivaldo Lara managed to avoid a goal in the 77thth minute, when Figueirense F. C.'s Gennadiy Vorontsov fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Luís Fernando de Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tostão de Medeiros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Gennadiy Vorontsov came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Figueirense F. C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gennadiy Vorontsov couldn't finish the play. Sidnei Ceresso charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sidnei Ceresso the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Sidnei Ceresso hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. In the 88th match minute, Colorado EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Carlos Dracena to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Colorado EC's Erivaldo Lara got control of the ball when Gennadiy Vorontsov tried to sneak it across the goal line. Colorado EC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 92nd minute, when Ian Gerber scored to the left of an out of position Erivaldo Lara, making the score, 1-6. Figueirense F. C.'s Luís Fernando de Mendonça played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Carlos Dracena in the 97th minute of play. The Colorado EC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Figueirense F. C. were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
