Renato Silva came out of the goal and Paulão Soares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Piracaua getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Luís Paulo Veiga hit a great ball. When the match clock showed 8 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Severino do Valle sped through A.C. Tabaqueiro's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Luizão Jacinto. In the 13th match minute, A.C. Tabaqueiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvinho Chaves to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in A.C. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paulão Soares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Renato Silva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 23rd minute, Luiz Schmidt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Piracaua's Anísio Araújo got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Anísio Araújo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Luizão Jacinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Piracaua's Renato Silva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulão Soares in the 52nd minute of play. In the 55th minute Sérgio Corrêa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renato Silva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Severino do Valle kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. If Luiz Fábio Marquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Piracaua getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Felipe Mangueira hit a great ball. After 65th play minutes Luiz Fábio Marquez shot 1-1, a short shot which went by Renato Silva and just under the crossbar into goal. When Luiz Fábio Marquez came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the A.C. Tabaqueiro fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Fábio Marquez couldn't finish the play. A.C. Tabaqueiro's Luizão Jacinto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anísio Araújo in the 93rd minute of play. Luizão Jacinto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anísio Araújo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Piracaua succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though A.C. Tabaqueiro had controlled the match.
