Armandinho Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but João Paulo Freire made a huge save. Carlos Eduardo Fernandez hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. After 17 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Novilhona SC! Angelim were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after Novilhona SC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gerson Munhoz took the corner. Angelim's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gerson Munhoz in the 26th minute. In the 26th minute, César Meireles fired away an extremely well hit free kick, but unfortunately the ball went just outside to the right hand side of Donatello Barral. When Novilhona SC's Carlos Eduardo Fernandez in the 28th minute got a chance for a shot 28th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Angelim's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Samuca Mattos in the 32nd minute of play forced Novilhona SC's goalkeeper Donatello Barral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Donatello Barral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruninho Mota in the 33rd minute of the match. Novilhona SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Armandinho Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Paulo Freire breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Donatello Barral made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Samuca Mattos sent off a good shot on target. Donatello Barral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruninho Mota, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. 56 minutes into the game, Carlos Eduardo Fernandez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. João Paulo Freire came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by Novilhona SC's Carlos Eduardo Fernandez. But to his dismay, Carlos Eduardo Fernandez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. João Paulo Freire showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Eduardo Fernandez, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Carlos Eduardo Fernandez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Donatello Barral didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Angelim. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Novilhona SC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Angelim had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
