Ezequiel da Costa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Washington Nascimento in the 8th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Palmeiras defense, Clóvis Urbano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ezequiel da Costa. The Palmeiras fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ezequiel da Costa should have stopped the shot. After 16 played minutes Divininho got a freekick which was hit by Robinho Bertassi. If Filipe Nunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dalmo Vasconcelos's late challenge caught a Palmeiras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dalmo Vasconcelos helped the player get up and apologised. In the 21st match minute, Divininho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dalmo Vasconcelos to maneuver through the defense. Washington Nascimento scored 0-2 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ezequiel da Costa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Divininho getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Claudinho Marinho hit a great ball. Filipe Nunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Paulo Machado having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, Filipe Nunes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of João Paulo Machado. Divininho's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Filipe Nunes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Ezequiel da Costa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dalmo Vasconcelos in the 34th minute of play. Palmeiras's Ezequiel da Costa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dalmo Vasconcelos in the 36th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 37th minute of the game. One of Palmeiras:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Divininho:s goal. If Pedro Augusto de Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pedro Augusto de Andrade to make the kick off. After 51 played minutes Divininho got a freekick which was hit by Robinho Bertassi. 53 minutes into the match, Divininho's goal looked a bit too open when Perivaldo Cosme came free, but João Paulo Machado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind Divininho's goalkeeper João Paulo Machado, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Filipe Nunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Palmeiras's Ezequiel da Costa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Palmeiras from getting a goal against them. In the 67th minute Zé Augusto Paiva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ezequiel da Costa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 68th minute, Filipe Nunes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. João Paulo Machado was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. Washington Nascimento could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Ezequiel da Costa made a huge save. After 74 minutes of play, Palmeiras's Filipe Nunes made it 3-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. João Paulo Machado was left in no man's land by his defense there! 77 minutes into the match, Filipe Nunes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of João Paulo Machado. Divininho's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Filipe Nunes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-3. In the 83rd minute, Divininho's Zé Augusto Paiva dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 4-4. João Paulo Machado came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Palmeiras's Filipe Nunes. But to his dismay, Filipe Nunes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-4. Filipe Nunes struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. João Paulo Machado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palmeiras. Many of Divininho's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Divininho may have spent more time on the ball, but Palmeiras were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
