Jaime Faria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Silveira, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. After 6 played minutes Valparaiso got a freekick which was hit by Ricardinho Baiano. If Alberto Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Alberto Silveira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jaime Faria was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Valparaiso's Jaime Faria played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Saldanha in the 16th minute of play. 17 minutes into the game, Ediberto Mendes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Jaime Faria was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Corisco SS's Ronaldão de Souza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Corisco SS from getting a goal against them. In the 25th match minute, Valparaiso was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilton Ortiz to maneuver through the defense. Jaime Faria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ediberto Mendes in the 31st minute of play. In the 42nd minute Róbson Peixoto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaime Faria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Corisco SS were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

If Ediberto Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Valparaiso's zone, Alberto Silveira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jaime Faria came out of the goal and Alberto Silveira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Ediberto Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jaime Faria took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ediberto Mendes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 73 minutes into the match, Ediberto Mendes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jaime Faria. Valparaiso's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ediberto Mendes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. A collision led to Corisco SS getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Jaime Saldanha hit a great ball. Ediberto Mendes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Valparaiso's Jaime Faria got control of the ball when Alberto Silveira tried to sneak it across the goal line. 95 minutes into the match, Valparaiso's goal looked a bit too open when Enrique Machado came free, but Jaime Faria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Valparaiso fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Corisco SS were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
