The audience thought a goal was coming when Léo Porto got free with Douglas Eger in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Sportakademie's Alan Magalhães got a free kick in the 20th minute. When Léo Porto came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Cayru AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Léo Porto couldn't finish the play. After 22 played minutes Sportakademie got a freekick which was hit by Alan Magalhães. When Léo Porto came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Cayru AD fans jumped to their feet. Cayru AD's Evandro Messias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Pedro Prestes in the 31st minute of play. Cayru AD's Jânio Damião got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Léo Porto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Douglas Eger having to interfere. When Baltazar de Barros fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sportakademie's protests and gave Baltazar de Barros a yellow card for diving instead. Cayru AD's Jânio Damião got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 47th minute, Reynaldo de Carvalho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 48 minutes into the match, Cayru AD's Antônio Cardozo broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jânio Damião made a kick off. Silvério Guedes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Evandro Messias made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Cayru AD's Luís Fabiano Ceresso got a free kick in the 77th minute. Douglas Eger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jânio Damião, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. If Léo Porto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
