But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bianco Serra couldn't finish the play. Mário Souza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvério Guedes in the 16th minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, Sportakademie's João Pedro Prestes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mário Souza narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mário Souza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustavo Melo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Boca Juniors GO's zone, Silvério Guedes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mário Souza came out of the goal and Silvério Guedes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Silvério Guedes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Mário Souza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Bianco Serra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Boca Juniors GO's supporters rose to their feet, but Bianco Serra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Douglas Eger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Silvério Guedes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Mário Souza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Silvério Guedes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
