In the 12th minute, Luciano Souto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luciano Souto took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Antônio Carlos Dante. Antônio Carlos Dante dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Cássio Machado struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Antônio Carlos Dante didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Minas FC. 25 minutes into the game, Dudu Maia recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rubinho Munhoz. Dudu Maia showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. If Luciano Souto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Luciano Souto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Minas FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luciano Souto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Antônio Carlos Dante breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cássio Machado was the one to do the kick off. Antônio Carlos Dante made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cássio Machado in the 68th minute. 74 minutes into the match, Cássio Machado dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Antônio Carlos Dante, 2-2. 82 minutes into the match, Minas FC's Cristiano Tepedino sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Antônio Carlos Dante narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Minas FC players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
