When Agnaldo Meira came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Tacimirim SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agnaldo Meira couldn't finish the play. Dênis Tande could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Arí Santana made a huge save. Arí Santana made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Dênis Tande sent off a good shot on target. Agnaldo Meira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Arí Santana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arí Santana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agnaldo Meira in the 31st minute of play. 33 minutes into the game, one of Tacimirim SS:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 38th minute, Dênis Tande ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arí Santana was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 40th minute, Gilvan Guimarães hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Juninho Batista made the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 52 minutes, Juninho Batista took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Cássio Rosa to make any attempt to save it. 57 minutes into the match, Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Dênis Tande came free, but Arí Santana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Francisco Leão kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. If Juninho Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Tacimirim SS booed when Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nelson Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 68th minute, José Miranda left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Esporte Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. 73 minutes into the match, Esporte Clube's Juninho Batista sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cássio Rosa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Arí Santana was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Agnaldo Meira might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arí Santana. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Agnaldo Meira ran back to his position shaking his head. Esporte Clube's Arí Santana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dênis Tande in the 87th minute of play. If José Miranda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Miranda could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Cássio Rosa made a huge save. When the match had gone on for 93 minutes, Franklin Dracena took a quick shot and it went in 2-4 without a chance for Cássio Rosa to make any attempt to save it. The Esporte Clube supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Esporte Clube would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
