Spectators: 7284 (Terracing: 5465, Seating: 1675, VIP seats: 144) Riachuelo's Cristóvão Costa started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Riachuelo's supporters rose to their feet, but Kaká Vianna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dedé Neto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
