Luiz Gustavo Alagoano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Carlos Arósio, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. After 40 played minutes Boacu got a freekick which was hit by Inácio Amorim. After the first half Boacu were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zé Carlos Arósio to strike the kick off in the second half. Rui Magalhães might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luiz Gustavo Alagoano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rui Magalhães ran back to his position shaking his head. Zé Carlos Arósio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Gustavo Alagoano having to interfere. After having played for 61 minutes, Zé Carlos Arósio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Boacu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zé Carlos Arósio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Telmo Campidelis during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 63 played minutes Boacu got a freekick which was hit by Telmo Campidelis. After 70 played minutes Baixo got a freekick which was hit by Hamílton Lago. Luiz Gustavo Alagoano made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Rui Magalhães sent off a good shot on target. Rui Magalhães struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Luiz Gustavo Alagoano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Boacu. After 73 played minutes Baixo got a freekick which was hit by Hamílton Lago. 78 minutes into the match, Baixo's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Carlos Arósio came free, but Luiz Gustavo Alagoano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Boacu's Magno Maia got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 86 minutes, Fausto de Sena managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Baixo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fausto de Sena was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Rui Magalhães managed to get in a good position for a shot. Boacu's supporters rose to their feet, but Rui Magalhães was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luiz Gustavo Alagoano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hamílton Lago during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Hamílton Lago hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Baixo's zone, Zé Carlos Arósio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luiz Gustavo Alagoano came out of the goal and Zé Carlos Arósio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 97 minutes into the match, Baixo's goalkeeper Luiz Gustavo Alagoano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rui Magalhães. When the match was over Boacu could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Baixo throughout the match.
