Afonsinho Barreto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 30 minutes into the game, Bebeto Arósio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. LITLE ITALY SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave C A Santos Dumont the free kick. Aírton Toledo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aírton Toledo in the 36th minute of play forced LITLE ITALY SC's goalkeeper Hernán Barcoj to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Afonsinho Barreto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Biagio Lemme, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 38 minutes of play, LITLE ITALY SC's Biagio Lemme made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The penalty shot was made by Luiz Guilherme Maciel, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of LITLE ITALY SC's Hernán Barcoj. 1-3. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Aírton Toledo was the one to do the kick off. When Biagio Lemme came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the LITLE ITALY SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Biagio Lemme couldn't finish the play. After having played for 53 minutes, Bebeto Arósio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. LITLE ITALY SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bebeto Arósio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Afonsinho Barreto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Biagio Lemme in the 55th minute. In the 57th minute Aírton Toledo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hernán Barcoj saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Manfredo Abraão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Tomás Cerezo fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C A Santos Dumont's protests and gave Tomás Cerezo a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of LITLE ITALY SC booed when C A Santos Dumont was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomás Cerezo didn't get a good kick on the ball. LITLE ITALY SC's Hernán Barcoj played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Toninho Urbano in the 79th minute of play. 84 minutes into the match, Tomás Cerezo notched a goal, 2-4, to the right of LITLE ITALY SC's Hernán Barcoj. Hernán Barcoj was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Bebeto Arósio took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Afonsinho Barreto. Afonsinho Barreto dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-5. 90 minutes into the game, Biagio Lemme recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Afonsinho Barreto. Biagio Lemme showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-6. Biagio Lemme could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Afonsinho Barreto made a huge save. After 97 minutes C A Santos Dumont's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Edinho da Costa who took care of the corner kick. LITLE ITALY SC's Edinho da Costa was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Afonsinho Barreto in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in.
