Serginho Paulista started the match with the kick off. Gonçalo Batista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Almir Leal in the 11th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, União Campograndense's goal looked a bit too open when Serginho Paulista came free, but Vivaldo de Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vivaldo de Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edgard Furlan in the 13th minute of the match. Serginho Paulista was extremely unlucky when he, in the 16th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Serginho Paulista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Vivaldo de Almeida tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vivaldo de Almeida didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Walmir Dias went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. The supporters of Sapateiro booed when União Campograndense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Fábio Gomes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Serginho Paulista was extremely unlucky when he, in the 28th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Almir Leal scored 1-1 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gonçalo Batista, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Almir Leal kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 36th minute, Walmir Dias got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Almir Leal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. José Dias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Gonçalo Batista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Dias to make the kick off. Gonçalo Batista made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when José Dias sent off a good shot on target. Vivaldo de Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Serginho Paulista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Walmir Dias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Vivaldo de Almeida tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vivaldo de Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Serginho Paulista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vivaldo de Almeida made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serginho Paulista in the 86th minute of play. Vivaldo de Almeida came out of the goal in the 88th minute to try and stop a shot by Sapateiro's Walmir Dias. But to his dismay, Walmir Dias quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Walmir Dias's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vivaldo de Almeida read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. Vivaldo de Almeida came out of the goal in the 96th minute to try and stop a shot by Sapateiro's Walmir Dias. But to his dismay, Walmir Dias quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Sapateiro had won after a very even match.
