The supporters of Caranahyba booed when Moita AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maurinho Almeida didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nilson Amaral hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Oswaldo Neto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelo Galvão in the 6th minute of the match. Emerson Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marcelo Galvão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Oswaldo Neto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. César Domingues took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Gustavo Mello, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 15 minutes into the match, Caranahyba's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Gustavo Mello came free, but César Domingues reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Zé Bastos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Caranahyba's Francisco Capixaba got a free kick in the 18th minute. A collision led to Caranahyba getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Francisco Capixaba hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Luiz Gustavo Mello managed to get in a good position for a shot. Moita AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Gustavo Mello was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. César Domingues breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luiz Gustavo Mello struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. César Domingues didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Moita AD. When Marcelo Galvão came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Caranahyba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcelo Galvão couldn't finish the play. 1-0 became the score in the 28th minute when Emerson Mendonça elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Artur Valladares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without César Domingues having to interfere. Luiz Gustavo Mello's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but César Domingues read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Zé Bastos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but César Domingues was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. After 48 played minutes Caranahyba got a freekick which was hit by Chicão Faria. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Gustavo Mello in the 49th minute of play forced Caranahyba's goalkeeper César Domingues to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luiz Gustavo Mello to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Dadá Quadros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zé Bastos got free with César Domingues in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 64th minute Luiz Gustavo Mello shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but César Domingues saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Caranahyba's zone, Luiz Gustavo Mello stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. César Domingues came out of the goal and Luiz Gustavo Mello tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 70th minute, Caio Nunes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 71st minute, Nilmar França fired a really elegant long shot, but César Domingues threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. In the 76th minute, Caio Nunes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 79 minutes into the game, Zé Bastos recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of César Domingues. Zé Bastos showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Caranahyba's zone, Zé Bastos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. César Domingues came out of the goal and Zé Bastos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 84 played minutes Caranahyba got a freekick which was hit by Alexandre Bittencourt. Zé Bastos struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. César Domingues didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Moita AD. Caranahyba's César Domingues proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Caranahyba from getting a goal against them. César Domingues made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zé Bastos in the 90th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Zé Bastos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Moita AD's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
