The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silvinho Porto during the 3rd minute. Silvinho Porto hit a great ball. 4 minutes into the match, Waldir Borges had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fernandão Bertassi. Alagoas Futebol CLUB's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Waldir Borges was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Fernandão Bertassi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Waldir Borges's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. In the 18th minute, Waldir Borges got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 20th minute Nico Koehler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernandão Bertassi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Waldir Borges had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Waldir Borges sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Waldir Borges fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernandão Bertassi having to interfere. After 30 minutes, Diguinho Arósio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alagoas Futebol CLUB and the Burieta EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Burieta EC booed when Alagoas Futebol CLUB was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diguinho Arósio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Silvinho Porto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Aluísio Chaves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Alagoas Futebol CLUB players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Burieta EC were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ronaldo Donatello made a kick off. When Waldir Borges fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Burieta EC's protests and gave Waldir Borges a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Alagoas Futebol CLUB booed when Burieta EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Waldir Borges didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 55 minutes, Cipriano Vargas made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Burieta EC's Aluísio Chaves tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Ronaldo Donatello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aluísio Chaves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldo Donatello, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Alagoas Futebol CLUB's Fernandão Bertassi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Waldir Borges in the 63rd minute of play. In the 68thth minute of the game Ronaldo Donatello who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Burieta EC's Aluísio Chaves was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Waldir Borges came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Burieta EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Waldir Borges couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Waldir Borges got free with Fernandão Bertassi in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Burieta EC's Aluísio Chaves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cipriano Vargas in the 78th minute of play. 79 minutes into the match, Ronaldo Donatello notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Burieta EC's Aluísio Chaves. Aluísio Chaves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 83rd match minute, Burieta EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edu Saldanha to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Burieta EC booed when Alagoas Futebol CLUB was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silvinho Porto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alagoas Futebol CLUB's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
