José Carlos Saldanha came out of the goal and Guga Soeiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 14th minute, Guga Soeiro made a precise shot to the right of José Carlos Saldanha. Abare EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. If Antônio Carlos Leão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Carlos Saldanha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alex Rocha in the 23rd minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Alex Rocha's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José Carlos Saldanha was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Atletico De Madrid's Alex Rocha slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of José Carlos Saldanha. That made the score 1-3 after 74 minutes of play. Guga Soeiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Carlos Saldanha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 99th minute of play. Abare EC's José Carlos Saldanha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alex Rocha in the 101st minute of play. The Abare EC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Atletico De Madrid's performance. The match ended with a win for Atletico De Madrid.
