Thomás Teles was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Sidney Guerra shot from long distance in the 18th minute, but Hortêncio Machado was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldão Lara in the 23rd minute of play forced Cruzeiro EC's goalkeeper Hortêncio Machado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Robinho Rocha notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Estevao FC's Thomás Teles. Thomás Teles was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Olívio Veloso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thomás Teles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. A collision led to Cruzeiro EC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Hugo Neiva hit a great ball. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After having played for 64 minutes, Olívio Veloso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. After a defensive mix-up in Estevao FC's zone, Olívio Veloso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thomás Teles came out of the goal and Olívio Veloso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Estevao FC's Thomás Teles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robinho Rocha in the 87th minute of play. 88 minutes into the game, Hugo Neiva was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cruzeiro EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Estevao FC the free kick. In the 88th minute, Hugo Neiva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Robinho Rocha blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Thomás Teles having to make a save. Estevao FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 95th minute, when Olívio Veloso scored to the left of an out of position Thomás Teles, making the score, 0-3. The Cruzeiro EC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
