The supporters of Campana booed when Itamuri was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernão Lara didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Itamuri's zone, Conrado Alcântara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. César Saraiva came out of the goal and Conrado Alcântara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dagoberto Leal hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. After 27 minutes, Fernão Lara mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Itamuri and the Campana players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 27th match minute, Itamuri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernão Lara to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Conrado Alcântara took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for César Saraiva to make any attempt to save it. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Conrado Alcântara made a kick off. With a little luck, Campana's Ronaldo Leão got control of the ball when Anselmo Brodel tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Conrado Alcântara in the 54th minute of play forced Itamuri's goalkeeper César Saraiva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. César Saraiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from César Mazza in the 59th minute of play.
