But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marquinhos Moreno couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Reis SC's Américo Bastos got control of the ball when Marquinhos Moreno tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marquinhos Moreno struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Américo Bastos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Garimpo. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustavo Duarte in the 20th minute of play forced Reis SC's goalkeeper Américo Bastos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 26th play minutes Gustavo Duarte shot 3-0, a short shot which went by Américo Bastos and just under the crossbar into goal. When Reis SC's Eduardo Recife in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Garimpo's goalie prevented a goal. Serginho Paranaense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Renatinho Moreira having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Américo Bastos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marquinhos Moreno, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Reis SC's Américo Bastos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustavo Duarte in the 52nd minute of play. Marquinhos Moreno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Américo Bastos having to interfere. In the 60th minute, Francisco Arósio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Humberto Rezende charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Humberto Rezende the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Gustavo Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Garimpo's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
