Ronaldo Medeiros stood somewhat misplaced when Silvinho Quintal came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 7 minute. Silvinho Quintal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Ronaldo Medeiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 18th minute, Silvinho Quintal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Universitário FC's Ronaldo Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kaká Martins in the 19th minute of play. In the 25th minute, Jorginho Castro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cristóvão Bueno was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. If Kaká Martins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kaká Martins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 36 minutes into the game, Silvinho Quintal recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ronaldo Medeiros. Silvinho Quintal showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-2. 40 minutes into the match, Icarai's goal looked a bit too open when Jorginho Castro came free, but Cristóvão Bueno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Silvinho Quintal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronaldo Medeiros having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 48th minute by Silvinho Quintal got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Jorginho Castro made the kick off in the second half. In the 63rd minute, Silvinho Quintal made a precise shot to the right of Ronaldo Medeiros. Universitário FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. Kaká Martins scored 5-2 in the 68th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ronaldo Medeiros, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 71 minutes, Silvinho Quintal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Icarai's supporters crossed their fingers, but Silvinho Quintal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Silvinho Quintal put it in 6-2 from a short distance just to the right of Ronaldo Medeiros. If Silvinho Quintal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Kaká Martins blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ronaldo Medeiros having to make a save. Ulysses Arantes hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Silvinho Quintal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronaldo Medeiros having to interfere. Silvinho Quintal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. In the 90th minute of the game Adilson Castro made a throw-in which Jacinto Amorim played forward. Silvinho Quintal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ronaldo Medeiros read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. In the 96th match minute, Universitário FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Palmeira to maneuver through the defense. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Icarai had played much better football throughout.
