M A R A N H Ã O A C's Durval Peres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michel Moreira in the 12th minute of play. Aloísio Cunha charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aloísio Cunha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to M A R A N H Ã O A C getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Aloísio Cunha hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Flávio Amorim in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Durval Peres saved M A R A N H Ã O A C from getting behind. Anselmo de Senna scored 1-0 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Délio de Queiroz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 22nd minute, Alex Penha left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The M A R A N H Ã O A C fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Alex Penha's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Délio de Queiroz firmly grabbed it by the left post. The crowd rose to their feet as M A R A N H Ã O A C's Alex Penha slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Délio de Queiroz. That made the score 3-0 after 28 minutes of play. Flávio Amorim scored 3-1 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Durval Peres, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 35th match minute, M A R A N H Ã O A C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Rezende to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the M A R A N H Ã O A C defense, Michel Moreira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Durval Peres. The M A R A N H Ã O A C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Durval Peres should have stopped the shot. A collision led to M A R A N H Ã O A C getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Carlos Alberto Martins hit a great ball. 46 minutes into the match, M A R A N H Ã O A C's goal looked a bit too open when Michel Moreira came free, but Durval Peres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when André Rezende stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of M A R A N H Ã O A C booed when Indiana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jerônimo Vasconcelos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Délio de Queiroz came out of the goal in the 55th minute to try and stop a shot by M A R A N H Ã O A C's Alex Penha. But to his dismay, Alex Penha quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. A collision led to Indiana getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Jerônimo Vasconcelos hit a great ball. M A R A N H Ã O A C's Durval Peres proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save M A R A N H Ã O A C from getting a goal against them. Michel Moreira scored 4-3 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Durval Peres, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Durval Peres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Flávio Amorim, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 71 minutes into the match, André Rezende had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Délio de Queiroz. Indiana's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that André Rezende was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-3. M A R A N H Ã O A C's Durval Peres proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save M A R A N H Ã O A C from getting a goal against them. Michel Moreira came free with the goalkeeper in the 76th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Durval Peres could save by the left post. In the 77th minute Alex Penha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Délio de Queiroz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flávio Amorim in the 81st minute of play forced M A R A N H Ã O A C's goalkeeper Durval Peres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th minute, Flávio Amorim ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Durval Peres was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-4. The audience was convinced that André Rezende's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Délio de Queiroz was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. Délio de Queiroz came out of the goal in the 90th minute to try and stop a shot by M A R A N H Ã O A C's Anselmo de Senna. But to his dismay, Anselmo de Senna quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-4. Josué Netto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Durval Peres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Michel Moreira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Indiana's supporters rose to their feet, but Michel Moreira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Durval Peres breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. M A R A N H Ã O A C's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
