The supporters of Mariano SS booed when Baldim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egídio Peixoto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leopoldo Garretón showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antônio Carlos Rosa in the 22nd minute of the match. 24 minutes into the match, Juan Fantini dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Silvinho de Mendonça, 1-1. Mariano SS's Chiquinho Negri managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Cristian Favoretto in the 28 minute of the game. In the 29th minute, Chiquinho Negri got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cristian Favoretto made in the 35th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Benedito Corrêa however managed to control. Mariano SS's Jardel Matos got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 39 minutes, Juan Fantini managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Silvinho de Mendonça was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Jardel Matos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mariano SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Jardel Matos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Silvinho de Mendonça breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Baldim's Silvinho de Mendonça played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan Fantini in the 47th minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jardel Matos made a kick off. After 61 played minutes Baldim got a freekick which was hit by Egídio Peixoto. 66 minutes in the game Cristian Favoretto did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Egídio Peixoto. Jardel Matos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Silvinho de Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Silvinho de Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luizão Lira in the 71st minute of play. The throw-in from Cristian Favoretto in the 74th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Mariano SS's Ademir da Rocha. 78 minutes into the match, Baldim's goal looked a bit too open when Jardel Matos came free, but Silvinho de Mendonça reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Egídio Peixoto fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Baldim's protests and gave Egídio Peixoto a yellow card for diving instead. Egídio Peixoto kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. 85 minutes into the game, Cristian Favoretto threw the ball into play from the sideline. Mariano SS's Ademir da Rocha quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Antônio Carlos Rosa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Leopoldo Garretón made a huge save. A collision led to Baldim getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Egídio Peixoto hit a great ball. Jardel Matos might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Silvinho de Mendonça. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jardel Matos ran back to his position shaking his head. Mariano SS walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
