Murillo de Mendonça blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Anselmo Veiga having to make a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Capinal AD's Maurinho Freire slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Eduardo Martins. That made the score 1-2 after 36 minutes of play. Nhandutiba's defense didn't have a chance, in the 39th minute, when Maurinho Freire scored to the left of an out of position Eduardo Martins, making the score, 2-2. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Murillo de Mendonça in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Anselmo Veiga prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Murillo de Mendonça in the 45th minute of play forced Capinal AD's goalkeeper Anselmo Veiga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eduardo Martins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maurinho Freire, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gilmar Campidelis in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Anselmo Veiga saved Capinal AD from getting behind. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Nhandutiba's Eduardo Martins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dinei Tepedino in the 70th minute of play. 71 minutes into the game, Iuri Pernambucano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Capinal AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nhandutiba the free kick. A collision led to Capinal AD getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Anselmo Veiga was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Murillo de Mendonça showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-3 in the 79 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Murillo de Mendonça in the 83rd minute of play forced Capinal AD's goalkeeper Anselmo Veiga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Capinal AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dinei Tepedino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Murillo de Mendonça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anselmo Veiga having to interfere. Eduardo Martins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maurinho Freire, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Despite being the better team, Capinal AD failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
