After some careless play in the Juventude Esporte Clube defense, Oswaldo Rezende kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kauã Azevedo. The Juventude Esporte Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kauã Azevedo should have stopped the shot. When Charles Barbosa came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Juventude Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Charles Barbosa couldn't finish the play. Gilson Mesquita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Merengues F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oswaldo Rezende was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Juventude Esporte Clube's Kauã Azevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oswaldo Rezende in the 69th minute of play. Oswaldo Rezende received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Kauã Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee ignored Juventude Esporte Clube's protests and gave Luiz Duarte a yellow card for diving instead.
