Fluminense FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gonçalo Toledo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fluminense FC's goalkeeper Gonçalo Fantini, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 47 minutes into the game, Gonçalo Toledo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Nelson Lopes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marco Alcântara made a kick off. When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Acácio Favoretto took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Gonçalo Fantini to make any attempt to save it. A collision led to Chelsea FC getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Wiliam Antunes hit a great ball. Nelson Lopes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gonçalo Toledo in the 66th minute of play. 67 minutes into the match, Chelsea FC's goal looked a bit too open when Edgar Brodel came free, but Nelson Lopes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 68 played minutes Chelsea FC got a freekick which was hit by André Peres. Marco Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nelson Lopes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edgar Brodel, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. 87 minutes into the game, Edgar Brodel cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Nelson Lopes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
