Luís Fábio Mangueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Fernando Bastos having to interfere. 18 minutes into the match, Tostão Dionísio dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Arí Sá, 1-0. Teodoro Neiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Fernando Bastos having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Assiz SS's zone, Luís Guilherme Motta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luiz Fernando Bastos came out of the goal and Luís Guilherme Motta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marcelo Cavalcante recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tostão Dionísio made a kick off. Luís Fábio Mangueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Luiz Fernando Bastos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 58 minutes into the match, Assiz SS's goalkeeper Luiz Fernando Bastos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vânderson Trigo.
