Davi Maranhense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cássio Jacinto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 10 minutes into the match, Aracruz SC's Laércio Zilles sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Caetano Paiva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Laércio Zilles had several of the Sente o Drama fc's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 15 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Caetano Paiva as he didn't even see the shot coming. 18 minutes into the game, Fred Torres was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Aracruz SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sente o Drama fc the free kick. Fred Torres kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Caetano Paiva stood somewhat misplaced when Laércio Zilles came free in front of goal and shot 2-0 to the left of him in the 20 minute. Caetano Paiva made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Erivaldo Peixoto sent off a good shot on target. Sente o Drama fc's defense didn't have a chance, in the 29th minute, when Alex Quintal scored to the left of an out of position Caetano Paiva, making the score, 3-0. If Erivaldo Peixoto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caetano Paiva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laércio Zilles, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. 41 minutes into the match, Hélio Coelho notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Sente o Drama fc's Caetano Paiva. Caetano Paiva was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Marian Kempski took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 45th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Caetano Paiva. Sente o Drama fc's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a rather tough play, Aracruz SC's Jorge Dracena got a free kick in the 48th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Laércio Zilles to make the kick off. Hélio Coelho kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Caetano Paiva stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Laércio Zilles's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. Laércio Zilles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 65 minutes into the match, Sente o Drama fc's goal looked a bit too open when Laércio Zilles came free, but Caetano Paiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Hélio Coelho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Aracruz SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Hélio Coelho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Caetano Paiva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 68 minutes into the game, Aracruz SC's Laércio Zilles nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Caetano Paiva made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. In the 73rd minute, Laércio Zilles left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Aracruz SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-0. Alex Quintal took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Caetano Paiva. Caetano Paiva dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 7-0.
