The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Luiz Paulo Pirani received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Acácio Viana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fortuna XXV were furious when Mathias Arce was red carded, 9 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 8 minutes into the game, one of Fortuna XXV:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Eduardo Novaes scored 1-0 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Acácio Viana, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Acácio Viana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Torres in the 16th minute of play. After 16 played minutes Fortuna XXV got a freekick which was hit by Geovanni Dantas. Fortuna XXV's Acácio Viana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Torres in the 17th minute of play. Luiz Paulo Pirani struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Acácio Viana didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pupunhas. In the 24th minute of the match, João Torres tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Acácio Viana saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. If João Torres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 34 minutes, Luiz Paulo Pirani managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pupunhas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Paulo Pirani was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 37 minutes into the game, Luiz Paulo Pirani cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Acácio Viana was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Luiz Paulo Pirani received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Acácio Viana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. João Torres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Acácio Viana having to interfere. In the 45th match minute, Pupunhas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Paulo Pirani to maneuver through the defense.

The wind increased when João Torres made the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Fortuna XXV's goal looked a bit too open when João Torres came free, but Acácio Viana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Acácio Viana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Paulo Pirani in the 52nd minute of play. After 59 minutes, Dorian Pombal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fortuna XXV and the Pupunhas players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Fortuna XXV getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Dorian Pombal hit a great ball. João Torres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Horia Senin hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. In the 66th minute, João Torres left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pupunhas fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Fabrício Paraíba hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fabrício Paraíba in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Acácio Viana prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luiz Paulo Pirani fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Acácio Viana having to interfere. If Luiz Paulo Pirani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
