In the 18th minute Dorian Batista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hortêncio Zilles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hortêncio Zilles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vladimir Simão in the 19th minute of play. In the 20th match minute, BOTAFOGO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Maciel to maneuver through the defense. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mário Queirós made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Pinheiros FC's zone, Vladimir Simão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hortêncio Zilles came out of the goal and Vladimir Simão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sílvio Furtado during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 63rd minute of the match Vladimir Simão sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hortêncio Zilles skillfully saved the ball. The BOTAFOGO fans' excitement grew in the 69th match minute when BOTAFOGO's Dorian Batista looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 7-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.
