The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Paranari's Ronaldo Paiva got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Paranari booed when Meneghetti FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Fabiano Santos didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Ronaldo Paiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Ronaldo de Amaral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tomé Azevedo was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. In the 11th minute, Armindo Arruda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Meneghetti FC's Ernani Maranhense tried to score from far away in the 12th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Maurinho Guedes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Eduardo Baiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ciro da Fonseca might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tomé Azevedo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ciro da Fonseca ran back to his position shaking his head. Ciro da Fonseca struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Tomé Azevedo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Meneghetti FC. Ronaldo de Amaral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomé Azevedo having to interfere. Paranari's Tomé Azevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Zanette in the 33rd minute of play. Luís Fabiano Santos charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luís Fabiano Santos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 34th match minute, Meneghetti FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Fabiano Santos to maneuver through the defense. Duda Carioca kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, João Carlos Marinho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paranari's supporters rose to their feet, but João Carlos Marinho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Maurinho Guedes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tomé Azevedo was a little too slow when Ronaldo de Amaral got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 44th minute. The score was now 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luís Eduardo Baiano was the one to do the kick off. Ronaldo Paiva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ciro da Fonseca in the 54th minute of play forced Paranari's goalkeeper Tomé Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 56 minutes into the match, Paranari's goal looked a bit too open when Ronaldo de Amaral came free, but Tomé Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Meneghetti FC's Nelsinho Paulista got a free kick in the 61st minute. Ciro da Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tomé Azevedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ciro da Fonseca, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ronaldo de Amaral in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tomé Azevedo saved Paranari from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Ciro da Fonseca's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tomé Azevedo was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. For all the effort they put into the match, the Paranari players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Meneghetti FC.
