Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Irupi's Roger Donato started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute of the match, Roger Donato tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ciro de Souza saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 6 minutes into the match, Roger Donato dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ciro de Souza, 1-0. After 11 minutes of play, GRÊMIO's Fernandinho Carvalho made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Agostinho de Salles was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 14th minute Roger Donato shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciro de Souza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alex Aparecido got free with Ciro de Souza in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 23 minutes into the match, GRÊMIO's goal looked a bit too open when Roger Donato came free, but Ciro de Souza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Roger Donato kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ciro de Souza. That made the score 2-1 in the 24 minute of play. Patrick Koehler hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Irupi's zone, Baltazar Andrade stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Agostinho de Salles came out of the goal and Baltazar Andrade tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 32 minutes into the match, Irupi's goal looked a bit too open when Fernandinho Carvalho came free, but Agostinho de Salles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 33rd minute, Fernandinho Carvalho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Agostinho de Salles was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. In the 36th match minute, GRÊMIO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aleandro Hermes to maneuver through the defense. If Pedro Luiz Carioca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Fernandinho Carvalho managed to get in a good position for a shot. GRÊMIO's supporters rose to their feet, but Fernandinho Carvalho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Agostinho de Salles breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 44th minute, Fernandinho Carvalho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GRÊMIO fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. The supporters of Irupi booed when GRÊMIO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilberto Esteves didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Irupi players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. GRÊMIO were winning 2-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fernandinho Carvalho stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Agostinho de Salles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baltazar Andrade, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When GRÊMIO's Baltazar Andrade in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Irupi's goalie prevented a goal. Agostinho de Salles made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Fernandinho Carvalho sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marcelinho Mota during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 57th minute, Marcelinho Mota hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alex Aparecido recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 62nd minute Alex Aparecido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciro de Souza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Irupi's Agostinho de Salles proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save Irupi from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Fernandinho Carvalho put it in 2-4 from a short distance just to the right of Agostinho de Salles. In the 67th match minute, GRÊMIO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baltazar Andrade to maneuver through the defense. Agostinho de Salles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baltazar Andrade, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Baltazar Andrade might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Agostinho de Salles. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Baltazar Andrade ran back to his position shaking his head. Baltazar Andrade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Agostinho de Salles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Alex Aparecido had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 90 played minutes GRÊMIO got a freekick which was hit by Fernandinho Carvalho. Roger Donato sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cesinha Araújo hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. If Baltazar Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. GRÊMIO's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
