Itabira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Trinidade the free kick. In the 7th minute there was a penalty for Trinidade. Pedro Luís Faustino hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. 17 minutes into the match, Itabira's goal looked a bit too open when Dorian Pontes came free, but Delfim Martins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ulisses Cardoso in the 19th minute of play forced Itabira's goalkeeper Delfim Martins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th match minute, Itabira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Germano Almeida to maneuver through the defense. Germano Almeida took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 23rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Doriva Almeida. After a rather tough play, Itabira's Enéas Mendonça got a free kick in the 38th minute. The audience was convinced that Ronaldinho Bezerra's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Doriva Almeida was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. 45 minutes into the game, Itabira's Ronaldinho Bezerra nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Doriva Almeida breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Diogo Cunha during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Trinidade getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Diogo Cunha hit a great ball. Carlos Augusto Toledo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doriva Almeida having to interfere. If Dorian Pontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Itabira's Delfim Martins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ulisses Cardoso in the 73rd minute of play. 75 minutes into the game, Trinidade's Dorian Pontes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Delfim Martins made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Dorian Pontes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 79thth minute tested the skills of Delfim Martins when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Itabira getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. João Paulo Fabbri hit a great ball. In the 82nd minute of the match Manfredo Peres sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Delfim Martins skillfully saved the ball. Ulisses Cardoso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delfim Martins having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Itabira's zone, Ulisses Cardoso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Delfim Martins came out of the goal and Ulisses Cardoso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
