Toninho Barbosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Zé Ribeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Toninho Barbosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Luís de Medeiros in the 32nd minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Zé Ribeiro made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Clemente Trigo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Toninho Barbosa was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 61st minute Zé Ribeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joris Reuters saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gil Quadros in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Toninho Barbosa saved Pena from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Clemente Trigo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Toninho Barbosa. That made the score 0-3 in the 66 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wellington Barbosa in the 70th minute of play forced Broncos E.C's goalkeeper Joris Reuters to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Wellington Barbosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Donato Passos fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pena's protests and gave Donato Passos a yellow card for diving instead. Donato Passos hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match.
