An unexpectedly hard shot by Gil Fonseca in the 89th minute of play forced Newell´s Old Boys's goalkeeper Chicão Borges to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luiz Paulo Azevedo came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by Newell´s Old Boys's 康建远. But to his dismay, 康建远 quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Durval Lopes charged in rather forcefully in the 97th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Durval Lopes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 97th match minute, Newell´s Old Boys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Durval Lopes to maneuver through the defense. Newell´s Old Boys played a much better game than Ferraz SC and deserved their victory. The Ferraz SC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
