The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dário Toledo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hamílton Linares in the 4th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Matheus Campidelis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Viegas's supporters rose to their feet, but Matheus Campidelis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cristian Freire breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Piraiuara FC's Hamílton Linares in the 11th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Dário Toledo was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Viegas through an amazing save. In the 15th minute, Luciano Mendonça hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 16th match minute, Piraiuara FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Augusto Mendes to maneuver through the defense. If Hamílton Linares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 21st minute, Osmar Pitta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 22nd minute, Hamílton Linares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 29 minutes into the game, Juarês Montenegro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Viegas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Piraiuara FC the free kick. 30 minutes into the match, Viegas's goal looked a bit too open when Hamílton Linares came free, but Dário Toledo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 31 minutes of play Viegas's Osmar Pitta was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 32 played minutes Viegas got a freekick which was hit by Osmar Pitta. 37 minutes into the match, Piraiuara FC's Hamílton Linares sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dário Toledo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 39 minutes into the game, Matheus Campidelis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Viegas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Piraiuara FC the free kick. Matheus Campidelis kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hamílton Linares to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Piraiuara FC's Olívio França sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dário Toledo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 59 minutes into the game, Hamílton Linares cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Dário Toledo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olívio França in the 66th minute of play forced Viegas's goalkeeper Dário Toledo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Romário Saldanha's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cristian Freire read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. Dário Toledo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hamílton Linares in the 77th minute of play. If Hamílton Linares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 88 played minutes Viegas got a freekick which was hit by Waldemar Paraense. Dário Toledo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olívio França, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
