Itaiuba's Reynaldo Amaral tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Marcos Zonta hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Reynaldo Amaral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Róbson Perez, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Paulão Capixaba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Reynaldo Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 20th minute of the game. One of Itaiuba:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Uruguayana:s goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dráusio Ortiz in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Reynaldo Amaral saved Itaiuba from getting behind. Bebeto Vargas's late challenge caught a Uruguayana's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bebeto Vargas helped the player get up and apologised. After 26 played minutes Itaiuba got a freekick which was hit by Bebeto Vargas. In the 27th match minute, Itaiuba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bebeto Vargas to maneuver through the defense. If Dráusio Ortiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Uruguayana's Róbson Perez got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronaldão Batista couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice moves Jacinto Santos could shoot a difficult shot in the 63rd minute, which Scot Beaudoin however easily saved by the left post. Reynaldo Amaral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dráusio Ortiz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Raúl Corrêa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Reynaldo Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Uruguayana made a substitution. Víktor Bittencourt replaced Paulão Capixaba. If Ronaldão Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The tension between the Itaiuba and the Uruguayana players grew even worse after the yellow card. Marcos Zonta kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Reinaldo Loyola came free in the 96th minute and tried to tip the ball over Reynaldo Amaral, but to the joy of Itaiuba's supporters the ball hit the crossbar and out. Uruguayana were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Itaiuba for a fine match.
