Diguinho Azevedo's late challenge caught a FC Coimbra's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alfredinho Neto was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 11 minutes into the match, Magno's goal looked a bit too open when Dino Vinhas came free, but Alfredinho Neto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jano Batista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luiz Fabiano Chaves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jano Batista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cafu Fontes having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Jano Batista's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cafu Fontes was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Cafu Fontes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Fabiano Chaves, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. FC Coimbra's Cafu Fontes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jano Batista in the 31st minute of play. After having played for 33 minutes, Luiz Fabiano Chaves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Magno's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Fabiano Chaves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 41st minute Luiz Fabiano Chaves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cafu Fontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luiz Fabiano Chaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cafu Fontes having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

After 53 played minutes FC Coimbra got a freekick which was hit by Claudinei Hermes. In the 54th minute, Luiz Fabiano Chaves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luiz Fabiano Chaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cafu Fontes having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fabiano Chaves in the 59th minute of play forced FC Coimbra's goalkeeper Cafu Fontes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cafu Fontes made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Jano Batista sent off a good shot on target. In the 64th minute, Luiz Fabiano Chaves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With his leg Cafu Fontes managed to avoid a goal in the 65thth minute, when Magno's Jano Batista fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. With a little luck, FC Coimbra's Cafu Fontes got control of the ball when Jano Batista tried to sneak it across the goal line. When FC Coimbra's Dino Vinhas in the 72nd minute got a chance for a shot 72nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Magno's goalie prevented a goal. Cafu Fontes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jano Batista in the 85th minute. In the 87th minute, Luiz Fabiano Chaves fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Cafu Fontes, passed just outside the right post. Magno's Jano Batista got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Danilo Terra hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. After having played for 90 minutes, Jano Batista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Magno's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jano Batista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Magno were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
