Zachariasz Witkowski fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ramón Ortiz having to interfere. When Carlos Fernando Tasso came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the FC Germania fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Fernando Tasso couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, FC Germania's Wilson Mangueira got control of the ball when Raphael Matos tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 43rd minute, Carlos Fernando Tasso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carlos Fernando Tasso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of FC Germania booed when Ceara Sporting Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mané Nascimento didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wilson Mangueira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
