The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute, Sandro Alcântara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Pratapolis getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Jairo Salgado hit a great ball. Gilberto Velloso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dinei Tasso, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Dinei Tasso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilberto Velloso having to interfere. In the 19th minute, Sandro Alcântara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Luizinho Hames managed to get in a good position for a shot. Corimbota's supporters rose to their feet, but Luizinho Hames was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Naldo Freitas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Delfim Miranda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Gilberto Velloso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Delfim Miranda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gilberto Velloso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Delfim Miranda in the 31st minute of play. Gilberto Velloso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dinei Tasso's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. Dinei Tasso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilberto Velloso having to interfere. Pratapolis's Naldo Freitas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luizinho Hames in the 46th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Luizinho Hames made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Pratapolis's Aleandro Hoffmann got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Delfim Miranda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Gilberto Velloso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Corimbota's Gilberto Velloso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dinei Tasso in the 61st minute of play. 64 minutes into the match, Pratapolis's goal looked a bit too open when Luizinho Hames came free, but Naldo Freitas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dinei Tasso might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gilberto Velloso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dinei Tasso ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Corimbota getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Sidnei Freitas hit a great ball.
