The supporters of Balisa SC booed when Afeto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geovânio Reis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dida Berger scored 1-0 in the 6th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rubens Travassos, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Rubens Travassos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dida Berger went, in the 10th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. If Dida Berger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Raimundo de Toledo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jânio Azevedo in the 19th minute of play. In the 24th match minute, Balisa SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dida Berger to maneuver through the defense. Geovânio Reis struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Raimundo de Toledo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Afeto. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wilson Velasco during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Wilson Velasco hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. In the 35th minute, Geovânio Reis had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. After 35 minutes, Walmyr Pires mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Balisa SC and the Afeto players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 37th minute of the match Cícero Senna sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Raimundo de Toledo skillfully saved the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wilson Velasco in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rubens Travassos saved Afeto from getting behind. 44 minutes into the match, Dida Berger had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rubens Travassos. Afeto's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dida Berger was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wilson Velasco to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dida Berger in the 51st minute of play forced Afeto's goalkeeper Rubens Travassos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Dida Berger managed to get in a good position for a shot. Balisa SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dida Berger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rubens Travassos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Wilson Velasco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rubens Travassos was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. Rubens Travassos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustavo Botelho in the 62nd minute of play. After 66 played minutes Afeto got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Diniz. Rubens Travassos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Afeto's Rubens Travassos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dida Berger in the 90th minute of play. In the 91st minute Wilson Velasco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubens Travassos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
