Sydney Gonçalves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renan de Moraes, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Ciro Tepedino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilmar Bittencourt in the 14th minute of play. Sandrinho Gomes's late challenge caught a Pirizal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sandrinho Gomes helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to novorizontino getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Sandrinho Gomes hit a great ball. Humberto de Brito charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Humberto de Brito the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ciro Tepedino made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eugênio Tasso in the 21st minute. Ciro Tepedino didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 24th minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. 28 minutes into the match, novorizontino's goalkeeper Ciro Tepedino had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Humberto de Brito. Sandrinho Gomes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sydney Gonçalves having to interfere. 33 minutes into the match, novorizontino's goal looked a bit too open when Gilmar Bittencourt came free, but Ciro Tepedino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sydney Gonçalves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandrinho Gomes in the 36th minute of play. In the 37th minute, Renan de Moraes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sydney Gonçalves was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. If Sandrinho Gomes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ciro Tepedino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilmar Bittencourt in the 44th minute of the match. Renan de Moraes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sydney Gonçalves having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gilmar Bittencourt to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Renan de Moraes in the 51st minute of play forced Pirizal's goalkeeper Sydney Gonçalves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 52 minutes, Tomé Queiroz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pirizal and the novorizontino players grew even worse after the yellow card. Tomé Queiroz kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. 57 minutes into the match, Pirizal's goal looked a bit too open when Fabiano Lima came free, but Sydney Gonçalves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fabiano Lima might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sydney Gonçalves. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fabiano Lima ran back to his position shaking his head. Gilmar Bittencourt took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ciro Tepedino. Ciro Tepedino dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Ciro Tepedino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eugênio Tasso, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilmar Bittencourt in the 68th minute of play forced novorizontino's goalkeeper Ciro Tepedino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee ignored novorizontino's protests and gave Nando Falcão a yellow card for diving instead. After 81 played minutes novorizontino got a freekick which was hit by Nando Falcão. A collision led to novorizontino getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Cristóvão Cosme hit a great ball. After 85 played minutes, Pirizal's Murillo Oliveira shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ciro Tepedino came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Pirizal reached it. In the 88th minute Gilmar Bittencourt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciro Tepedino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ciro Tepedino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugênio Tasso in the 89th minute of play. novorizontino's Ciro Tepedino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eugênio Tasso in the 90th minute of play. novorizontino's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
