Sílvio Romero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dorival Barreto having to interfere. Jardim Presidente Dutra's Dorival Barreto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquim de Sena in the 23rd minute of play. A collision led to Aiparuca SC getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Joaquim Alcântara hit a great ball. If Sílvio Romero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 32nd minute Joaquim de Sena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dorival Barreto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 35 minutes, Váldson Guimarães took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Jailson Bueno to make any attempt to save it. In the 38thth minute of the game Váldson Guimarães who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Aiparuca SC's Jailson Bueno was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sílvio Romero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Dorival Barreto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Vágner Antunes fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Jardim Presidente Dutra's protests and gave Vágner Antunes a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Aiparuca SC booed when Jardim Presidente Dutra was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vágner Antunes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Joaquim de Sena managed to get in a good position for a shot. Aiparuca SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Joaquim de Sena was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dorival Barreto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Aiparuca SC's Hélder Dias got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Váldson Guimarães stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 54 minutes, Sílvio Romero managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aiparuca SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sílvio Romero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Sílvio Romero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The attack was good, but when Sílvio Romero in the 63rd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. With his leg Dorival Barreto managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when Aiparuca SC's Sílvio Romero fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 67th match minute, Jardim Presidente Dutra was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Váldson Guimarães to maneuver through the defense. Dorival Barreto made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Sílvio Romero sent off a good shot on target. After 77 played minutes Jardim Presidente Dutra got a freekick which was hit by Raimundo Cruz. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joaquim de Sena in the 79th minute of play forced Jardim Presidente Dutra's goalkeeper Dorival Barreto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Jardim Presidente Dutra getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Erasmo Loyola hit a great ball. In the 85th minute of the match, Sílvio Romero got a very nice opportunity to score, but Dorival Barreto was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 89thth minute of the game Joaquim de Sena who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Jardim Presidente Dutra's Dorival Barreto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Aiparuca SC's Sílvio Romero got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jardim Presidente Dutra's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
