Cipriano Dracena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Belmiro Veloso in the 18th minute of the match. If Belmiro Veloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Biquinhas FC's zone, Egídio Soares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mário Pirani came out of the goal and Egídio Soares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Belmiro Veloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edmundas Plakys did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Mário Pirani 26 minutes into the match. Cipriano Dracena showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Fábio Ferreira, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. When the match had gone on for 31 minutes, Edmundas Plakys put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Mário Pirani. In the 35th match minute, Carapo EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Slim Ben Essediri to maneuver through the defense. Luís Paulo Freire recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Egídio Soares came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Carapo EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Egídio Soares couldn't finish the play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edmundas Plakys to make the kick off. In the 54th minute Carapo EC were awarded a corner. Edmundas Plakys went to the cornerflag to take it. With an all-out effort, Biquinhas FC's Cipriano Dracena threw himself towards the right post 61 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luiz Fábio Ferreira, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Carapo EC's Cipriano Dracena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Fábio Ferreira in the 63rd minute of play. In the 64th minute, Biquinhas FC's Luiz Fábio Ferreira ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Cipriano Dracena. Cipriano Dracena yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Cipriano Dracena didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Belmiro Veloso went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. The supporters of Carapo EC booed when Biquinhas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Fábio Ferreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carapo EC's Edmundas Plakys got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 86th minute, Edmundas Plakys made a precise shot to the right of Mário Pirani. Biquinhas FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. After a rather tough play, Biquinhas FC's Acácio Antunes got a free kick in the 89th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Egídio Soares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carapo EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Egídio Soares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mário Pirani breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match had gone on for 92 minutes, Luiz Fábio Ferreira took a quick shot and it went in 4-3 without a chance for Cipriano Dracena to make any attempt to save it. Carapo EC's Cipriano Dracena proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 97th minute of the match, managed to save Carapo EC from getting a goal against them. There was no doubt that Carapo EC were the better team. Carapo EC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
