The referee ignored Herculandia SC's protests and gave Samuel Mello a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Caipira SC booed when Herculandia SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Júlio Paes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valdo Almeida made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Egídio Paes sent off a good shot on target. Valdo Almeida made an important save on a dangerous shot by Egídio Paes in the 8th minute. In the 12th minute, Samuel Mello made a precise shot to the right of Valdo Almeida. Caipira SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. If Víktor Mangueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luizão Zonta stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Víktor Mangueira's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. Luizão Zonta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. After 27 played minutes Herculandia SC got a freekick which was hit by Egídio Paes. Luizão Zonta didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Víktor Mangueira went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Víktor Mangueira in the 36th minute of play forced Herculandia SC's goalkeeper Luizão Zonta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jaime Nascimento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Luizão Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 38th minute, Víktor Mangueira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Caipira SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. The Caipira SC fans' excitement grew in the 44th match minute when Caipira SC's Víktor Mangueira looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in Herculandia SC's zone, Jaime Nascimento stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luizão Zonta came out of the goal and Jaime Nascimento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Valdo Almeida made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio Galvão in the 59th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Caipira SC's Luizão Zonta threw himself towards the right post 61 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jaime Nascimento, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
