In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Alta's goalkeeper Elói Vaz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 12 minutes, Leonel Torres mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alta and the Club Atlético Peñarol players grew even worse after the yellow card. Valdir do Valle recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ronaldo da Rocha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juvenal Fonseca in the 25th minute of the match. With a little luck, Alta's Elói Vaz got control of the ball when Eliézer Hoffmann tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Alta's Júnior Correia got a free kick in the 29th minute. If Eliézer Hoffmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 36th minute Valdir do Valle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldo da Rocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ronaldo da Rocha came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Alta's Valdir do Valle. But to his dismay, Valdir do Valle quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Ronaldo da Rocha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juvenal Fonseca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 43 minutes into the game, Júnior Correia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Ronaldo da Rocha was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Elói Vaz acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 48th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Murillo Mineiro. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Valdir do Valle made a kick off. Valdir do Valle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronaldo da Rocha having to interfere. Ronaldo da Rocha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdir do Valle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A very good chance. Club Atlético Peñarol's Ronaldo da Rocha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdir do Valle in the 74th minute of play. Juvenal Fonseca took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ronaldo da Rocha. Ronaldo da Rocha dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. In the 78th minute, Juvenal Fonseca left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Alta fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-6. After 81 minutes, Ronaldo Martins mouthed his way into the referee's book. Júnior Correia got his second yellow card in the match during the 84th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Club Atlético Peñarol booed when Alta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Júnior Correia didn't get a good kick on the ball.
