Pedro Ferreira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonel Sampaio, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Chiquinho Pena's late challenge caught a Quatorze's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chiquinho Pena helped the player get up and apologised. After a defensive mix-up in Adelia's zone, Válter Magalhães stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Ferreira came out of the goal and Válter Magalhães tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Leonel Sampaio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 27th minute, Quatorze's Alfredinho Pena dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. After having played for 33 minutes, Leonel Sampaio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Quatorze's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leonel Sampaio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pedro Ferreira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Borys Wrzosek in the 35th minute of the match. If Leonel Sampaio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leonel Sampaio got free with Pedro Ferreira in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Leonel Sampaio came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Quatorze fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leonel Sampaio couldn't finish the play. In the 46th match minute, Quatorze was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Germano Ramos to maneuver through the defense. Márcio Mangueira struck a weak shot in the 49th minute. Zabulón Mera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Adelia.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leonel Sampaio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Válter Magalhães shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Ferreira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
