The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Luiz Fábio Brito might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Álvaro Dracena. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luiz Fábio Brito ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 11th minute, Luiz Fábio Brito got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Robinho Bertassi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. André Arósio made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Luiz Fábio Lucas sent off a good shot on target. 17 minutes into the match, Porcas EC's Luiz Fábio Brito sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Álvaro Dracena narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 18 minutes into the game, Ernesto Moreira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Porcas EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Macaroca SC the free kick. The supporters of Macaroca SC booed when Porcas EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernesto Moreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Carlos Augusto Diniz during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When the match had been going on for 27 minutes, Macaroca SC's Eliézer Soeiro got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of André Arósio. If Luiz Fábio Lucas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 36 minutes into the match, Porcas EC's Luiz Fábio Brito sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Álvaro Dracena narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 44th minute, Clemente Montenegro reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of André Arósio. The goal made the score 2-0. In the 48th minute of the match Eliézer Soeiro shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but André Arósio showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Robinho Bertassi to make the kick off. Porcas EC's Robinho Bertassi got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Robinho Bertassi took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Álvaro Dracena to make any attempt to save it. Robinho Bertassi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Álvaro Dracena having to interfere. Ernesto Moreira was shown his second yellow card after 66 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. André Arósio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Fábio Lucas in the 75th minute of play. Álvaro Dracena acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 80th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Agostinho Baptista. After having played for 82 minutes, Aluísio Carioca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Porcas EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aluísio Carioca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Clemente Montenegro came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Macaroca SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clemente Montenegro couldn't finish the play. Fabrício Medeiros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Álvaro Dracena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Macaroca SC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 89th minute, when Aluísio Carioca scored to the left of an out of position Álvaro Dracena, making the score, 2-2. If Clemente Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
