After 31 minutes of play, Cutiu SC's Aloísio Fontes made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marcelo de Andrade showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Albertinho Nóbrega, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Piassava SC's zone, Albertinho Nóbrega stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcelo de Andrade came out of the goal and Albertinho Nóbrega tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Albertinho Nóbrega made a kick off. After some careless play in the Piassava SC defense, Aloísio Fontes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcelo de Andrade. The Piassava SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcelo de Andrade should have stopped the shot. Marcelo de Andrade made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Aloísio Fontes sent off a good shot on target. Albertinho Nóbrega recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Marcelo de Andrade didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cutiu SC. In the 68th minute, Aloísio Fontes fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Marcelo de Andrade, passed just outside the right post. Kléberson Freire's late challenge caught a Cutiu SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kléberson Freire helped the player get up and apologised. After 69 played minutes Piassava SC got a freekick which was hit by Kléberson Freire. With a little luck, Piassava SC's Marcelo de Andrade got control of the ball when Aloísio Fontes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Albertinho Nóbrega received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute.
