The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cebolao's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Imbau EC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Cebolao's Alexsandro Quadros got a free kick in the 8th minute. Arí de Brito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo dos Santos in the 9th minute of play. After 11 minutes, Vivaldo Oliveira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Imbau EC and the Cebolao players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 11 played minutes Imbau EC got a freekick which was hit by Vivaldo Oliveira. After 21 played minutes Cebolao got a freekick which was hit by Victor Sousa. After a defensive mix-up in Cebolao's zone, Lúcio Antunes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arí de Brito came out of the goal and Lúcio Antunes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Denílson Bezerra in the 27th minute of play forced Cebolao's goalkeeper Arí de Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alexsandro Quadros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Válter Varela having to interfere. After 40 played minutes Imbau EC got a freekick which was hit by Luís Eduardo Campidelis. Imbau EC's Válter Varela proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Imbau EC from getting a goal against them. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Denílson Bezerra was the one to do the kick off. Edmundo dos Santos charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edmundo dos Santos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Válter Varela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexsandro Quadros in the 69th minute of the match. Edmundo dos Santos who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 70thth minute tested the skills of Arí de Brito when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Peixoto in the 77th minute of play forced Imbau EC's goalkeeper Válter Varela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 79th minute, Alexsandro Quadros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Arí de Brito made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Edmundo dos Santos sent off a good shot on target. When Luiz Guilherme Gonçalves fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cebolao's protests and gave Luiz Guilherme Gonçalves a yellow card for diving instead. Luiz Guilherme Gonçalves hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Denílson Bezerra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Arí de Brito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cebolao's Arí de Brito proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Cebolao from getting a goal against them. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Imbau EC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
